49 Scholarships Raised with Your Help

Riders from all over S. Georgia and Florida came together this past Nov 16, 2019 to RIDE through cold and some mud, had a great time and helped raise money to send children to the Florida Children’s Diabetes Camp.  Mark your 2020 Calendar — Nov. 14, 2020.   The Second Annual RHRFD will commence!  Have a look at photos from the event here.

We thank our local Florida and Georgia families and friends who have been impacted by Type 1 Diabetes and all those who joined efforts to launch the annual bike ride to raise awareness of this deadly disease, and to raise money to send kids with Type 1 Diabetes to Florida Children’s Diabetes Camp.

Type 1 Diabetes is an expensive disease. We are happy to help in providing camp scholarships for as many kids as we can with our involvement with Ride to Fight Diabetes.

During the 2019 summer, Florida Diabetes Camp served 1 camper from Alabama, 17 from Georgia, 31 from North Florida.  About 54% of campers receive full or partial scholarships. The camps do not receive support from JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) or ADA (American Diabetes Association).

All money raised from this bike ride will support  campers from northern Florida, southern Georgia and Alabama; these camps are under the medical direction of doctors and nurses in North Florida. Activities offered through Florida Diabetes Camp include sports, swimming, arts and crafts, and diabetes education and a special camp for cycling.

Thank you for your help in raising awareness and supporting the fight.
